BariatricTV Episode 35: ASMBS Wrap Up for 2009

We’ve highlighted plenty of interviews from vendors that provide products and services to patients, as well as a very informative interview with the President of the ASMBS, Scott Shikora. Doctor Shikora discusses some new advances in bariatric surgery as well as information on access to surgery for those in need.

This episode is the wrap-up of this weeks event.

BariatricTV goes on the road to ASMBS Conference in Texas

This week we will be bringing you videos from vendors that exhibited at the 2009 American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Conference.
We visited the exhibit hall looking for the latest and greatest information we could find. Stuff that we think patients would want to know about. Some buzz words overheard at the conference were “single entry laproscopic procedures”, “more patient advocacy” and “new products in nutritional support for pre op and post operative patients.”

While this conference is mostly for medical professionals, we thought it might be a good chance to see the latest innovations in Bariatric Surgery.

So with that said, please stay tuned over the next two days cause we will be adding videos as we get them edited.

Episode 34: Duh…Feeling kinda Stoopid?

This week we crown one of our own an honorary FOW. Take our first look at post gastric bypass plastic surgery. Discuss the phenomenon of feeling a bit stupid after surgery – and finish things up with a cool summer dessert recipe.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • This weeks “Freak of the Week” is Mike or Big Mickey.
  • Why? Cause he makes Lynnda and Toni look like they know what they are doing.
  • We’ve decided to start a series on plastic surgery.
  • We answer the most asked question. That is “when should I have plastic surgery after weight loss surgery?”
  • We give you most plastic surgeons guidelines, which is to wait at least 18 months to two years after your weight loss surgery.
  • If you have questions regarding plastic surgery, send us email or post it on the forum and we’ll do our best to get you the right answers.
  • Feeling stupid after weight loss surgery?
  • We do eat a lot of brain foods like chicken, tuna, salmon, legumes, egg, cheese, and yogurt
  • 60% of our brain is made up of fat?
  • Maybe the serotonin levels in our brain is effected by our low carb diet?
  • It’s fruit season in California and we give you a great recipe using blueberries, strawberries and a past recipe.
