In all the surfing of weight loss surgery sites and forums over the last few months, I came across what to the younger folks may seem like a sub-set of l33t speak or something.  All these acronyms ... NUT, WLS, DH, RNY, PCP, NUT, etc, etc, etc.

Through reading multiple posts and figuring out context, I've been able to translate most of them. I think. But I was wondering if we shouldn't compile some sort of master glossary of sorts to help other newbs?

so... I'll kick it off with a few that I know... please add others you've seen used... then maybe once a good size list Maybe Mike can put it all into a single sticky post or something?

WLS - Weight Lost Surgery

PCP - Primary Care Physician

NUT - Nutritionist

RNY - Roux-en Y (Gastric Bypass Surgery)

You know, I only use acronyms online, and I've been online for 12 years now and acronyms change depnding on what the  subject is of the board itself.

I could post ton of acronyms that have nothing to even do with WLS. I know almost all of them for pregnancy and birth, I know a lot from the ex-mormon world now too, and the homeschooling world, the dieting world and more. DH knows acronyms for the transformer world, Sci-Fi world, Star Trek world, RPG world, and more. I've found you can do searches for just about any acronym, but usually sites have a dedicated page with a list of their most often used acronyms.

I rarely use acronyms in e-mails or even texts I have a hard time using short hand in a text, ironically. DH thinks it's funny.

BTW - you forgot to add LD = Liquid Diet

I've seen several members track their body weight as:

HW - BW - SW - CW

I figure HW = highest weight, SW = surgery weight, and CW = current weight, but what does BW stand for?
