I am starting to think I may have to go that route. So very discouraged with my lack of weight loss. I was going great guns at first, then nothing since October, just the same 4 pounds up and down. I am following my program, getting my fluids, working out at least 3 times a week. I average 800 - 1100 calories per day, no refined carbs. I need to lose 100 pounds more and I am at 11 months out.
I kept waiting for the stall to end and it just won't. I have my annual check next month and will talk to my doc about it then. He doesn't do the DS so I will have to move to another surgeon. Angry

I still have about 37 pounds to go and I fight the same 10 -12 pounds up and down and have done for quite some time now.  I really don't want to be done and still be overweight.   Sad So, if I could afford it, I'd be signing up for a revision if they'd take me.

What is a revision? I'm not sure I understand what that entails.

Unfortunately, some patients may experience problems with their surgery or not succeed in losing the expected amount of excess weight. In these situations, a follow-up bariatric procedure, known as a bariatric surgery revision, may be necessary to alter or repair their initial bariatric surgery.

My friend in NJ is going to do it-she lost 185 pounds and is 40 from goal.  An endoscopy showed it was scar tissue that had opened up her pouch to 7 ounces and her surgeon told her she won't lose any more unless she does it.  Poor girl has been playing with the same 8 pounds for 7 months.  I believe it's called a stomaphyx and is done endoscopically.  I think that's my biggest fear, that I'll do something to stretch the pouch out.
4 week mark today and 35 pounds total, 25 post op.  94 to go.  I'll take my journey shots the 23rd of every month to document.

I have to say that I am looking into a revision. I had my band erode into my stomach and had to have it removed back in december. now I am looking into having the sleeve done for my revision. It is all going to depend on what my insurance has to say about it. The reason I am having this done is because I have unfortunatly gained all of my weight back and need to start all over again now. I actually have my consult on the 16th so I should know more then.

I have had a conversion from a band to VGS and then a revision to my sleeve.  I loved my band.  Got it on my 39th BD in June 2003 (didn't want to be fat and 40!).  I lost 90 lbs the first 18 months (250 down to 160).  It was awesome!  I maintained my weight until August 2007 (4 years).  But then my hiatal hernia came back and I started having severe reflux at night.  I had the hernia repaired, but even the tiniest fill caused reflux.    So with my band "deflated" I gained back 40 lbs (to 200).  I was miserable.

I decided to have the band removed and converted to a VGS all in the same surgery in January 2009.  I lost 20 lbs in the first three months (very slowly).  I never felt like I had much restriction.  It definitely did not feel like my band.  I was always hungry.  I slowly gained back the 20 lbs and was very unhappy with how much I had spent for nothing.  A few months ago, my hiatal hernia came back and had a lot of stomach pain.  I saw a bariatric doctor in case something was wrong with my sleeve.  It ended up being my gallbladder.  He said my sleeve was made larger than what he makes his.  He said he could revise it during my gallbladder surgery so I decided to do this again!

On August 3, 2011 I had a sleeve revision.  He cut more of the bottom of my stomach away and "plicated" the top to make it smaller.  So far (6 weeks), I've only lost 11 lbs.  I am frustrated because I see how much other people lose and I feel like I am losing very slowly.  I eat about 900 - 1,000 cal a day, exercise 3 days a week, take my vitamins, and get at least 80 gms of protein a day.  I don't eat any white carbs.  Hopefully, the loss will continue this time.  Maybe I'm just a very slow looser.  Who knows.  But I will keep at it!  Sorry this was so long - I didn't mean to write a novel!

Thanks,
Monica

I am going to have a revision from realize band to RNY on Oct. 17. I was banded in March 2010 and have lost less then 40 pounds and a good deal of that was during the pre and post op diets. I had a metabolism test done and found out my metabolism is pretty low. It was suggested that I look into a revision and I decided that was the best thing for me. So we set it up and am looking forward to losing the weight and getting healthy.

Yes, how did it go?  How was the surgery and recovery as well?  Was it more intense than just having the band surgery since they had to remove the old band and then perform the RNY?  How long were you in the hospital?  I have 18 million other questions to ask you if you don't mind Smiley  It's been a little hard for me to find people who have done a band to RNY revision that I can ask questions to, but I have been looking into having it done myself.  Tomorrow I'm going to Mass General Hospital for the info seminar that's required before you can make an initial appointment, but I'm sure it'll be the same info I heard 3 years ago when I had my Lapband put in.  Oh well, at least this time I'll be able to listen to the RNY info for good reason! Smiley

I hope you're recovering well and look forward to speaking with you when you get back on the boards!

RNY April 8, 2008; Revision April 16, 2013

I just had to have a revision too. I was having a lot of discomfort and ended up in the ER. Did and endoscopy and found I had bile in my pouch and long story short. They sent me to a bariatric specialist and he went in to do exploratory surgery to find what was causing it. Found I had a hernia and also that my RNY was way to short and that was pushing the bile up into my pouch. He took out all the other Dr did except for my pouch and redid it all. Made it longer. I have now lost all the 20 lbs I had gained back. I had my first RNY April 8th 2008 and now my revision April 16th 2013.  I am feeling so much better now!!!!
