Something I have to remind myself on an almost daily basis... take small bites, chew thoroughly & take your time. The days of polishing of an entire meal in 12 minutes flat are OVER!!

A lot of the same. Also not just small plates but also small storage containers. I take lunch and snacks to work and, if I put the yogurt in a smaller storage container, I put in 4 oz. but if I put it in a big one, somehow I put in 5 oz.
Also, drink a lot of water so you don't mistake thirst for hunger. Find some good snacks that really work for you - string cheese (low fat), certain protein bars, protein hot chocolate, beef jerky, hard boiled eggs baby carrots work well for me. Nuts, other protein bars, regular carrots do not. There's no sense buying stuff that doesn't work because it "should" or because you "ought" to. Like the regular carrots. Yes, they are better for you and the environment. But I won't eat them as much and end up throwing a large part of the carrot away. They don't work for me so I went back to the baby carrots because they do. |

All right lets remind ourselves what works for us. What are your best food tips. Large or small. Give us a list.
Plan Plan Plan. If I plan what to eat I stick to it and eat well. If I wing it most likely I will overeat or eat something that isn't good for me one way or another. No talking and eating. Most of the time I will eat to much or to fast (not chewing well) and things get returned. Small bowls or plates for most things. I love the Ikea plastic kids bowls. Keep "good" food handy for snack attacks. If I am suddenly hungry drink something ( most of the time that fixes it). What are yours? |
