I wondered what happened!
My fat person uniform - I'm still wearing - comfortable jeans (I'm allowed to wear nice jeans to work), and an empire waist top that "hides" the belly. I never tuck a shirt in (that would defeat the purpose of trying to hide the belly rolls), and I never wear a skirt - haven't in 15 years - I feel like Omar the Tentmaker made my clothes in a skirt. So, I wear jeans and a blouse that hangs over the jeans.

Toni said when she upgraded the forum, she lost some posts that she couldn't recover. So we'll just begin again!
Mine were moo-moo dresses (spelling done on purpose!). You know, the kind that looked like Omar the Tentmaker made them. (Good one, Kris!)
Also, I bought no work pants that didn't have elastic in the waist. Stretchy was key! So nice to be wearing button-ups now.
And of course, the classic sweatsuits in the wintertime. Hey, I may keep those for the wardrobe - just in smaller sizes! Those are comfy!

I had about 20 pairs of black stretchy, elasticated trousers in 2 styles. I'm not exaggerating. My favourite top was a black stretchy empire line thing with short sleeves, under which I wore a long sleved top - in a variety of colours. Other various baggy tops to hide under.... no skirts, no dresses. Flat, frumpy shoes - no heels. Yesterday I wore a fitted pencil skirt as part of a suit (ok, it was black...) with a fitted purple shirt - wow! I haven't been able to wear a fitted skirt since I was 13.

Anything big enough to at least partially hide the extra rolls of me. I will look for a pic and add to the post if I find one. But I hid from the camera for years so I may not be able to.

big loose fitting shirts. elastic waist jeans and large empire waist dresses. The shirt had to be long enough to cover my tremendous arse. LOL

It depends on the season! (Since I'm in New England and the seasons vary, my wardrobe must change.
Summer: Cotton, stretchy, almost knee length shorts with oversized T shirt, never tucked in, of course. If I wanted to "dress up", I'd switch to capris and and "nice" cotton t shirt (something with designs, embroidery, etc).
Winter: When I was over 300 lbs, it would always be sweat pants type. Now, I only wear the sweats to the gym or when I'm sick. However, I tend to stick with jeans, cut for larger women, of course, with that stretchy material: in order words, not really jeans, are they? I still wear T shirts but I will layer a sweatshirt (zippered or not) over it.
I really, really want to be able to tuck my shirts (and not necessarily just a t shirt but fitted shirts too!) into my jeans, REAL jeans, of course.

My fat person's uniform of choice was black pants (still like those - they are classic) and tunics or loose fitting shirts. I had to start buying tunics because a few times my regular length shirts rode up exposing my large round fish-white belly... not a good look for the office - or anywhere! The heavier I got the darker and more somber the colors I wore became, as well.
Now I am brightening up a little more, even though I'm still obese.

For work, I have at least six pair of black pants - same black size - same black style - and same maker (they fit). So they get 'mixed and matched' with solid color tank tops and coordinating jacket. It's boring - but it's easy. It's the shoes that have become really ugly of late. I am now wearing these SAS black clogs, clunky, and most of the time they are pretty comfy. Knee-hi's seem to hamper circulation so I am wearing these black lite weight ankle socks. At the end of the day the ankles are really quite swollen - so dresses or skirts are just out of the question. (color me 'oh, so vain') I am looking forward to the time after surgery when I can feel comfortable wearing a dress or skirt again. I never did wear hi heels, but some cute pumps would be very nice.

But Toni, you're probably wearing skinny, designer jeans made of real denim, not the "stretch kind". I don't get the big sweater thing, since you are in So Ca but then again, I saw the episode about being cold post surgery. So, you probably look like a skinny person dressing for warmth, instead of a fat person dressing to camoflage. Tracy V, that was my "uniform" when I worked in an office; black pants, solid cotton shirts and jacket. I am a remote worker now, working from my home office so I can get away with wearing jeans (or shorts). Still, when I do go to the office, I dread getting "dressed up" because I don't think I look very good at all.

great topic! I haven't had my surgery yet, so I'm still wearing my fat uniform: Jeans that are usually tight because once you wear the biggest size they sell you have to just squeeze that azz in. A shirt that's long enough to hide my belly, or rather, both my bellies. Belly 1 and Belly 2. Oh how I roll..... And tennis shoes because everything else hurts my feet, my back, etc... Yuck.

I'm still pre-op too, but I wanted to share my uniform of late....I am sporting the "hippy" look, lots of shawls, ponchos, etc. that are big and shapeless to hide everything!!

The uniform was black stretchy pants and huge over shirts. Kinda of like several of you. When I started to lose weight and I began wearing jeans, my niece told me that she was in shock because she'd never seen me "wear real clothes" before.

Jeans, sneakers and a pretty top. Usually unstructured and made out of something similar to t-shirt material.

I've been fortunate that my weight is mostly proportional. I always say I have an hourglass figure, but it's more like a century glass, same shape, more sand I look horrible in jeans because thats when I get the big ass belly roll. My uniform is dress pants that are stretchy that don't push up the fat and is really good at disguising my tummy, and because of that I can wear somewhat fitted shirts and still look ok - at least in my mind I look ok. Later today I'll post pics of the jeans/no jeans fat uniforms. Edited to add the pics

Here goes! I wear jeans from The Dress Barn in size ENORMOUS. I do not try them on, I just buy them and whatever they look like- that is my look for the next 2 to 6 months before my fat thighs wear away the fabric where my legs rub together. I have 2 black elastic-waisted skirts for church. Flat orthopedic-looking shoes only. My real sense of style(LOL!) comes in with my choice of shirts. Giant sweaters in the winter or a black shawl that looks a lot like a throw blanket, in a sweater knit. (People know I am huge but cannot detect a shape under that blanket mound!) Long shirts with a v-neck or some sort of attention at the neck line so people notice my face and not my body are my favorites. (Yes- I know it is not working- and yet I try....) Oh my! I just realized I have truely given up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I am still researching and probably will have RNY. I have been down this road before (lose 20, gain 30 - lose 40, gain 50 etc.) and my fat uniform is track pants and a t-shrt at home and for going out a pair of jeans and a nice t-shirt. I can't wait to wear a dress again! Maria

This podcast topic REALLY struck a chord with me! In fact, I had to order a new uniform for summer as I couldn't go until surgery time without a new uniform. I wear denim shorts (I buy 4-6 pair when I find a comfy fit) or stretchy jeans with a large plain tee that comes in various colors. My fave are the un-attention getting brown and heather gray. I cannot WAIT to throw my uniforms away for good!!!

I work in a hospital and have a uniform...black scrub pants, black t shirt, and bright blue scrub jacket. Scrubs are very comfortable and preop I would just keep them on until it was time to get ready for bed! Wore them to the store, to kids sporting events, school functions, etc. I get off work at 2:30pm, so plenty of time to change into "regular" clothes, but no one else knew that! These days, I rarely go out in my scrubs unless it is on my way home from work. I would rather go home and get into normal clothes first, nothing fancy, just jeans and a shirt...baby steps..lol.
