Here we go

Fit into those size 32’ white Calvin Klein jeans I wore in the early 1990’s – check
Be able to breathe while tying shoe laces – check
Get cholesterol level in normal range – check (6 months ago)
Sleep without using an Apnoea breathing machine – check (6 months ago)
Look into the mirror and think ‘who is that confident and handsome man?’ – check (every day now)
Find and keep a partner – check (3 month anniversary tomorrow)
Get a better job – check (12 months ago)

Complete the 10 day hike across the muddy jungle hills of the Kokoda Trail (infamous Australian battle in Papua New Guinea during the Second World War in the Pacific) – planned for late 2010
Buy a house with all the money I save on my grocery bills – hmm getting there slowly
Improve my fitness so I get some visible abdominals and become the envy of my friends – 90% done, a bit immature but ahh who cares.

I just realized that I never posted my list!

Since its always changing I made it a Google's Doc Smiley

Here's the link:

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AgUvdvCWrOdgdFlqWUtmWGZ6NlM1c1ZxYXdhYmlPUHc&hl=en

So far I've accomplished the following:
Weigh less than 300
Get off insulin
Ride Kraken in the big seat
Fit into a size 20

I also have been able to walk around the mall, stores, etc. without dying!  My back still has days where its very mad at me (2 herniated discs) but things are getting better.

  • (completed)Get down to 175

  • (completed)Have a normal BMI

  • Qualify for Kona
  • Give my inner "skinny bitch" the body she deserves (going to need PS for this one)
  • Have a "normal" relationship with food
  • Get my personal life in order (yeah, that's kind of vague)
  • Live into my 90s as one of those cantakerous little old ladies with 10x as much energy as the youngsters I run circles around (so far so good)

I also have goals for the season:
  • Run a stand-alone mile in 7:30 minutes
  • Swim 1.2 miles in 45 minutes (I can do it in 55 now)
  • Be able to average 16-17 mph on the bike when the course is flat/fast
  • Be able to run for two hours at a time without a lot of drama (gastro-intestinal issues, aches & pains)
  • Be able to bike for four hours without getting exhausted
  • Swim an average of 2 times a week

MacMadame, how's your calf doing?
It's doing a lot better. It still bugs me when I run fast but I recover fast too. It's not bugging me doing any other workouts, either.

What I notice about my list is how the goals have changed over time... from lose some weight and getting rid of co-morbidities to doing small races and then bigger ones and now not having any weight related goals at all. A friend of mine who does a lot of racing and has been to the 70.3 World Championships (Half-Ironman distance) had a goal to be able to bend over and tie his shoes when he first started. Now his list has all sorts of hard stuff on it!

I think it's nice to see the progression and hope that people keep adding to their goals as they cross stuff off their list.

It's going to be tough since I can hardly run. I've run about 100 miles all year!

But today at swim practice someone was complaining to the swim coach that I beat her in the swim at Wildflower and she needs to fix that. (She beats me in the pool most of the time but the pool doesn't count in a race!)

This is such a great idea!  Here's the beginning of my list:

    1. To wear thigh high boots.
    2. To wear really sexy bras (I am tired of basic black and beige).
    3. Learn how to dance the tango.
    4. Get my name off all of the mailing lists for plus size clothing.
    5. Get a tatoo on my back shoulder.
    6. Fit comfortably on the aisle seat on the bus without half my butt hanging off (DONE)
    7. Fit belts designed for women
    8. Be able to fit into designer clothing sold in resale shops
    9. Wear a really sexy little black dress
    10. Be able to fit into regular sized european clothing
    11. Be able to shop the clearance ssales in the expensive clothing stores.
    12. Be able to fit into my bathtub so I can take a bath instead of a shower (I miss bubble baths!)
    13. To not sweat as much in really hot weather (DONE)
    14. Not wake myself up with my snoring (DONE)
    15. NEVER, NEVER, EVER  wear anything with an elasticized waistband again!!!
    16. NEVER, EVER wear anything that can be described as "loose" or "flowing" ever again!!!
    17. To be able to wear non plus sized pantyhose
    18. To feel comfortable enough to go out dancing with my friends
    19. To start dating again
    20. To wear black stockings with seams down the back along with a garter belt
    21. To feel comfortable about wearing my own designs (instead of always making them for other people)
    22. To feel comfortable about interviewing for my dream  job

This is just off the top of my head....
