Post your questions here for Team BBV. There is no such thing as a stupid or silly question. We will do our best to post an answer that best fits. Unless of course you ask us what rhymes with orange, for that I we are still researching....

My 3 year old's response would be "Because it is silly"

Official answer "The sunlit sky appears blue because air scatters short-wavelength light more than longer wavelengths. Since blue light is at the short wavelength end of the visible spectrum, it is more strongly scattered in the atmosphere than long wavelength red light. The result is that the human eye perceives blue when looking toward parts of the sky other than the sun" thanks to wikipedia, see sky radiation....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_is_the_sky_blue

It is a magnificent blue today in Fort Lauderdale, but MUCH too hot.

PS we had a lot of fun at ASMBS too this year! John the hugger has been crashing booths ever since. Just kidding

Loved the show last night. Ok gang, the ladies at Bariatric TV threw down the gauntlet and asked us some tough ones:

1. What is the meaning of life? Answer- 42 is the number from which all meaning ("the meaning of life, the universe, and everything") could be derived. Please refer to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy book and/or movie.

2. Explain Einstein's Theory of Relativity- This is actually a theory by Max Planck in 1908. He studied and expanded on Einstein's Theory of General and Special Relativity. I could go on an on because my night shift I am a theoretical physicist but I will just send you a link instead. Purely for sake of time and to save space on this forum  Cool

3. Why won't Toni sing? Well, we here at BBV are so excited to have been the episode where Toni belted it out both in show and in after bloopers reel. We are putting in a request for you to both Duet "You are my sunshine"

Thanks again for everything, we enjoy your shows!

Do you guys mind if I interrupt the Silly fest?
Lynnda's input about the chewable Iron not having an after taste has inspired me to try it tonight. here's my Q
do you absorb more of chewable iron than regular
at this point I'm taking 150 mg every night (I'm anemic)
thanks,
kierie

Good morning. Great question, K.

I am not 100% sure if your asking for a comparison of our chewable iron vs. our non-chewable tablet iron or if you are comparing our chewable iron to a generic non-bariatric specific iron.

We manufacture all our vitamins [both chewable and tablet/capsule] with the highest bio-available ingredients so that they can be readily absorbed. Our non-chewable tablet comes in the glycinate form, chelated, in both 15 and 30 mg tablets. Our chewable iron comes in 30mg doses in the fumerate form. We typically suggest patients take between 15-30 mg of iron, all depending of course on your personal labs and doctors recommendations. The fact you require such a high amount of iron is a unique situation, so would suggest you discuss any changes in your iron protocol with your doctor and/or hematologist. I will gladly send you a brochure on our iron if you would like to share that with your physician to see if we are a good fit for what you need.

We do suggest for all bariatric patients, when taking iron to augment with a splash of Orange Juice [vitamin C]. This helps in the absorption of the vitamin.

To learn more about our iron, visit http://www.bbvitamins.com/HealthEducation.aspx#supplementalFacts

Take care,

Team Building Blocks
