359 pounds

150 pounds

There are still days that I don't even recognize myself.

Thought I would include this too. I was so honored to be asked to share a bit of my story for several magazine ads, this past July. I never dreamed 4 years ago that I would see myself one day in a magazine!

MiladyB - I've looked at a lot of before & after pics this year, but I must say - yours TRULY looks like 2 different people! What an amazing transformation! I know the hard work it takes to maintain, and you will be an inspiration for me as I continue my journey. Thank you for posting these!

You definately do not look like the same person.  When old acquaintances see you,  they can't possible recognize you.

Thank you so much everyone. Smiley

You're right. I have had several times where I have run into people who knew me before my weight loss surgery. Often they don't know me until I say something. I still get quite the thrill when I see their reaction. I'm very proud of myself but what means the most to me is the fact that I have been given the opportunity to inspire others on this journey.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I really am humbled.

Yes, that was an ad for the practice where I had my surgery. I really felt very honored to be asked.

I'm so thankful for the gift of life this surgery has given me. It is very important for me to "pay it forward", so I am very grateful for the many opportunities I have had.

Presently I'm a support group leader and a resource nurse on a bariatric unit. One day I really hope to have a position in the practice where I had my surgery. That really is my ultimate dream.

If you have the opportunity to help others on this journey, I would say, "go for it!". It really is such a wonderful opportunity.

Good job, Milady! Thanks for sharing your hope and joy!

I'm a newbie.  What advice as someone who has gone through it, and as a bariatric nurse would you offer?

thanks

Thank you, kb. Smiley

I guess my advice would be to take it one day at a time. Celebrate all of those "wow" moments. The big ones and the small ones. Remind yourself daily why you made the choice of having wls. What are those specific goals? Be kind to yourself. There is a huge learning curve after surgery. Embrace each and every challenge as a learning opportunity. If you can learn something there is no way you will be a failure. Smiley
