My husband is in the Army and deploys for a year or so at a time. I always wanted to lose a great amount of weight while he was gone and "wow" him but everytime I greeted him after a deployment I was larger than when he left. he was deployed all of 2009 and this time I freakin' did it! I lost well over 100 lbs while he was gone. I made a "before" poster so he would recognize me! It was truly the homecoming of my dreams!

Hi guys!  Love watching y'all!

Ok so this is more of a "we Freakin Did It" instead of a "I Freakin Did It" since my hubby was somewhat involved  LOL.

I had surgery on Dec. 2 2009 with great hopes that loosing weight would help my husband & me to get pregnant.  I had gotten pregnant once before and it was a tubal that ruptured in 2007 funny enough that was in Feb.  I was having a lot of nausea after surgery which all of a sudden got worse.  I threw the idea of taking a pregnancy test out with my hubby and he said I should take one.  The first from dollar tree came up positive, so I quickly grabbed a name brand test I had for just this occasion which of course positive too! I yelled for my hubby and then started calling doctors. After the first ultrasound I found out I was 12 wks along & only about 8 wks out of surgery.  And in case you're like some other people I told and didn't catch it from the math I was pregnant when I had my surgery! I'll be 19 wks tomorrow all is going well except for morning sickness.

Feelin' so damn good

« Reply #107 on: April 06, 2010, 11:15:44 AM »

Hi Everyone!
Well, I am 2 months out from my Lap RNY and I feel AMAZING. So, with mixed emotions...here is my "I freakin' did it" moment.  Two weeks ago we received some sad news that my husband's Grandmother had passed away and we needed to fly up to Boston for the funeral. So, the chubby chick I used to be started to panic at the thought of the humiliation I feel every time we fly and I have to ask for a seat belt extender.
Heart pounding and sweat beading up on my forehead, I boarded the plane. I plunked down in my seat and began the frantic seat belt grab and I then heard the most amazing sound...click...OMG!!!! Are you kidding me? The seat belt fit!!! My eyes filled with tears and my shoulders dropped from their stressed position from up by my ears to a normal, calm position. I want to remember that moment forever.
I have lost 34 lbs since my surgery and I have gained my self esteem back, how cool is that!

XOXO

Dani, I got teary-eyed just reading about it - as I did when I got on a plane after my surgery and needed no extender.  Congratulations to you!

Hello Fellow Freaks.  I FREAKIN DID IT!  I am less than half the woman I was when I started this adventure!  I have lost ~175 pounds and weigh in around 150!  (My weight has been holding in an 8 pound range from 146 - 154 for a couple weeks now)  I never expected to see success like this in this time frame.

I have been rockin' the program incorporating all the new behaviors into my day to day trying to build good habits.  I pay close attention to the quality of food I am eating staying far away from empty, simple carbs focusing on fueling my body with good nutritious foods.  In fact...my relationship with food has really evolved.  I haven't lost the love of eating like I thought I would have to at the beginning of this journey....but I insist on good quality - good tasting - well prepared food.  As a result I have had some delicious meals and still really enjoy eating out.

I exercise nearly everyday.  Whether it is killin' it in the gym taking cardio classes and weightlifting or if it's just making the choice to walk on a local errand instead of the taking the car I am aware of needing to Move My ASS every single day!

I have become a good example for my kids and I see them making better choices about foods and activity as a result - and this is really the most rewarding part of this journey.  Seeing my 6 year old push her plate back, even with food she likes still on the plate, and announce she is full is a success.  Seeing my 4 1/2 year old think about foods offered to him and whether they are in the "sometimes" Fats and Sweet Group or the "all the time" Fruits, Veggies or Protein Group is amazing!

But - not too shy away from the fun successes...to commemorate my hitting HALVSIES my gym put my story on their SUCCESS BOARD!  I am a celebrity...well, at my 24 Hour Fitness....and mostly, really, in my own mind.  But I FREAKIN DID IT!  I am proud of myself and feel like shouting it from the rooftops!

Here is the text from the Success Board Posting:

Quote
I am < HALF the woman I used to be!

Working with my doctor and the incredible staff at 24 Hour Fitness I have lost over 167 pounds.  [Current totals ~175]

I've gone from a size 32 to a size 6.   [some clothes I am in 4! WOW!]
My BMI has gone from "morbidly obese" at 52.6 to "normal" at 24.9.   [more recent measurements as this at 24.2]
My body fat has dropped from 51+% to 24% and still dropping.  [more recent measurements put this at 19%]

I've had to completely reevaluate my understanding of food and nutrition to make the necessary lasting changes to my day to day diet.

And while these nutritional changes have been critical - the support I have received from the Marathon Plaza 24 Hour Fitness staff has really made a difference this time.  From the Group X Classes, the personal training and the regular encouragement of the staff I look forward coming to the gym and have been able to rocket past goals I had set up for myself along this journey.

Libby, the Group X Kickboxing instructor, was open to showing me modified moves early in my fitness training to make sure I was doing the exercises in her classes safely and effectively.  She learned my name and encouraged me directly during class offering overall encouragement and instruction as my fitness level has increased and the weight dropped off.

Megan, the personal trainer I have been working with, has shown me an incredible suite of exercises I can incorporate into my own routines.  She listens to my changing fitness goals and creates routines that offer new exercises that I may not have used in training before.  This broadens the fitness tools I have available and keeps training fun and engaging.

I cannot express my appreciation enough to the Marathon Plaza 24 Hour Fitness staff and look forward to continuing to challenge myself to take my fitness to the next level!
