I just found out my insurance pays for me to join a gym. I chose curves from the list because it is close and it seemed like something I could do. I went 2 days now and I like it. The ladies are nice and I love that it is only women. We chat and time goes so fast.

I like Curves, too, and I am a proud member! Wish my insurance paid for it! I guess that's probably because you're still in the pre-weight loss phase prior to surgery, yes?

Okay - so here is a sad confession.  I am a member of Curves, and I loved going.   I think the camardarie/fellowship of all women is great.  And there was no self consciousness - even though there are some skinny minis there.

Then the job requirement changed, and I couldn't get there.

Weight crept up and up, and when I did go back, I wasn't comfortable on the machines.  The arthritis in the knee joints didn't help, and I felt like I just didn't fit on the machines.  Who wants, that feeling.

BUT I kept the membership and kept paying for the membership, like somehow I was going to get the benefit via osmosis.  That didn't happen.

Not quite 3 weeks out now,  my next appointment with the surgeon is at the end of the month when I am sure I'll be cleared for more exercise.

I've already made up my mind that I will change the work times so I can get home or get to a Curves before they close.  Their hours are a bit problematic - most in my area close at 7 or 7:30.  But there are others on the way home, which should make it easier to go.

I hope so anyway.

TracyV-I joined a gym in 2008 and paid for the dues for nine months and NEVER went.  I haven't joined one since my WLS but hope to soon. Huh
