I haven't tried them, but found this on an adkins site:

They're also called shiritake noodles and you may find them in Asian markets in the refrigerator aisle.

They do have a fishy smell to them. So you have to really rinse them under running water. Otherwise, they are just filler and more for texture than taste. The texture is chewy---sorta like Twizzler's candy.

I tried them and they were a big YUCK for me.  I didn't try to hide the taste much, but I have no desire to try them again.

Interesting concept -
Here's is my concern; the video said that they expand in the stomach.  For those of us with the restriction of a band, is it safe?  Would it 'gum up the works'?

Shiratakis don't expand not sure about the miracle ones
and if you rinse them really well they're good
I usually use them in a stirfry or soup

I haven't tried that brand, but I've had tofu shirataki noodles and konjac gluccomannan noodles.  The tofu ones are better tasting and still extrememly low cal and do not swell.  They have a ton of fiber and 20 calories a serving.

Thanks for the pointers guys!  I appreciate it!  I have seen some of the products you have mentioned in the grocery store...maybe I'll venture out and give it a try.

I've done the shiratake noodles.. they're.. ok. You don't get the al dente, tooth feel you do with properly cooked pasta. These are like eating slightly overcooked pasta.

I've never had an issue with the smell or actual taste of them. I try to keep some on hand for if I get a hankering for spaghetti or something... but I was never a huge pasta eater before either.
