I currently have Bariatric Eating's apple crisp in the oven-it's the first time I've baked with almond flour and DANG does that smell goooooooooooooooooooooooood okay, it is out of the oven and into my tummy and YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! I really feel like it was delicious and a big treat. I used the caramel syrup rather than the cinnamon. I think this will be a family favorite and I may cook it again and again because my house smells fantastic! In fact, when my daughter got home from school she said she could smell it from outside www.bariatriceating.com/BEhealthnutrition/recipes/carmapplecrisp.php

Thanks for the great review, doll!!
That's my recipe and it's been a very favorite of our house since day one. I'm so glad you tried it with the regular caramel sauce since Cinnamon Bliss is hard to find.
I remade it with my homemade caramel sauce and took photos - should be on my blog soon!

I remember when I first saw the recipes at BE. This was several years ago. One of my first recipes ever after wls (heck, probably FIRST EVER! lol) was the apple crisp. It was heavenly. And, I even made it for a boyfriend once. It must have worked. We're still together! bwahahahaha!
PS - Linda always answered all my questions about cooking and helped me a lot. She is awesome.

Okay.. so I have ALL the ingredients cept the Almond Flour.. can I use real flour instead?
This dessert - warm from the oven with a small scoop of NSA vanilla ice cream - is very comforting. Perfect after a wonderful protein-packed day, snuggled up under a quilt, near a crackling fireplace.
Filling: Vegetable cooking spray 4 cups peeled and diced apples (about 4 medium) 1/4 cup Splenda 1/3 cup Constellini's SF Cinnamon Bliss Syrup or DaVinci SF Caramel Sauce 1 tablespoon flour 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Pinch of salt 2 tablespoons fat free Half & Half
Topping: 1 1/4 cup oatmeal 1/2 cup Almond Flour 1/4 cup Splenda 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 cup butter, melted
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 2 quart baking dish or deep dish pie plate with vegetable cooking spray. In a large bowl stir together apples, Splenda, Cinnamon Bliss, flour, cinnamon, salt, and half & half. Pour into prepared baking dish and set aside. In the same bowl mix until crumbly the oatmeal, almond flour, Splenda, cinnamon, and melted butter. Spread over top of apples. Bake for 1 hour, cover loosely with foil during last 30 minutes. Makes 10 servings.
Per Serving: 149 Cal; 3 g Protein; 9 g Tot Fat; 17 g Carb; 2 g Fiber; 5 g Sugar; 39 mg Sodium

I don't see why not! Let's see what Linda says. I did add a drizzle of the carmel Davini SF when serving and that was great.

Haaahaa.. Okay.. I went and got almond flour and gave it a try.. Course I am a gigantic dork and I didn't read the ingredient list correctly so instead of using SF Caramal Sauce.. I used SF Caramel Syrup.. you know.. like you put in coffee.. It was um. VERY SWEET and runny.. So I dumped that and headed out to get some SF Caramel SAUCE. That in hand I made it again..
SUCCESS and DELICIOUS!
It was very good! I shall make this again.

I'm going to try a single apple size one tomorrow... and will just grind up some extra oats to make oat flour instead of the almond flour.

OMG!
I made some and waited for it to cool down a bit and had a taste (too full to eat) This wonderful!
Instead of reg flour I used 1/4 cup soy flour and 1/4 cup of ground almonds it tastes really great!
