Hey Folks,
So i was going through my Google news feed today at lunch and ran across this article in the LA Times...
http://bit.ly/9KslzwAfter reading it I found myself really angry for a couple of reasons. For starters why is this place still open and taking patients? It seems pretty obvious that there are documented problems but it is still allowed to operate.
Second, in my opinion, these money grubbing butchers are doing irreversible damage to the validity of a procedure that has helped so many people.
This is one excellent reason why research is key before undertaking surgery. Make sure you know who is doing it and what their background is. A good place to start is the ASMBS (American Society of Metobolic and Bariatric Surgery) They, in conjunction with the Surgical Review Corporation, have set guidelines for the creation of Bariatric Centers of Excellence. You can find more info on them here
http://www.asmbs.org/Newsite07/resources/asmbs_coe.htmPlease folks, do your research before you have surgery. There are unethical places out there that could do harm to you.
Okay, done ranting...
