Has anyone ever had a lapband, and then revised it (had it removed) into a Gastric Bypass?  I've been seriously contemplating doing so as I have had zero success with my lapband and am nearing my 3 year anniversary with it.  I find myself feeling like I wasted 3 years of my life and regret ever choosing the band over bypass.  I know the band works for so many people, unfortunately I just don't think I was meant to be one of them Sad

So, has anyone had any experience with this?  I feel like I'm starting all over again, as I definitely want a different surgeon as I didn't care for the post-op care and support that I received from the surgeon who did my Lapband.  It's all a little overwhelming as I'm still nervous about the permanence of a gastric bypass and I'm scared that if things don't work with this, I'm stuck with it (my only saving grace with the band was knowing it is reversible).

I don't even know where to begin to look for a surgeon who will take out the Lapband and reverse it to a RNY.  All I know is I don't want to go to the hospital I went to for my Lapband nor do I want one of those surgeons.

Lots of bandsters revise to either RnY or sleeve. Sleeve seems more popular as many got a band to avoid malabsorption but RnY is popular too.

Here are two blogs of band to RnYers:
