I walked in Nashville's Country Music 1/2 Marathon yesterday. My goal was to do it in 4 hours. I did it in 3:58:32 - and I have the engraved medal to prove it! The last 4 miles were pure torture. Not only was I sore and cramping (you just THINK you've trained for this), but a line of thunderstorms came through, so I walked the last 4 miles in 50 mph winds, thunder, and lightning. Yes, police were telling us to get to shelter in parking garages, but I knew if I stopped, I would never get going again. I don't even remember much about the last mile except that I was begging for it to be over! I'm very glad to have this accomplishment under my belt, but I'm gonna leave this endurance stuff to some of you others and admire you from afar. Back to Curves for my 30 minute workouts! Here's me before the race started. I'll have more pics from the race itself, once the hired company gets them posted. I'm really anxious to see the one of me crossing the finish line - I'm sure it's priceless. Now, it's back to my Aleve and hot bath. My poor thighs and calves may never recover!

Thanks, everyone. I really appreciate your cheering me on and supporting me. I thought about everyone who had done so when I really just wanted to lie down!
Ian - I can do Vegas now with no problems whatsoever! I have learned what it is to walk through the pain!
Diane - I have more stuff on my list, but it won't be endurance, I can tell you that much!

Thanks for all of these lovely comments. I love you guys so much, and I hope that I can continue to pay it forward in any way I can. And now - the pics of the finish line. Yes, I stole them from the website with the company's writing on them. They wanted $20 PER PIC! No, no, no. I'll just take the writing on it and go with it. Facebook may delete it from my stash for cheating, but I think it's highway robbery to charge that much to download a picture! Here's my glory shot... And here's my true feelings - I posed for the camera on the first one, but this was how I was REALLY feeling.

Tammy, you are one awesome lady!!! WTG!! So proud of you, and in a storm even. It got pretty nasty there for a while. I had some friends who ran the 1/2 marathon, I did not realize you could walk it. Pretty cool. I may have to look for one to do next year. Go rest up lady, you deserved it!!
