While I have been trying a bit to put on a few pounds...nothing to drastic as noted in one of my previous posts....

I went to a family gathering last night....and someone said to me "you are so thin, almost getting to thin".   Even though my "old" fat mind wanted to look over my shoulder and see who they were talking about....it still had it's shock value on me.  The somewhat WOW moment was that I think this is the FIRST time in my life I have been referred to as "to thin".  It's always been to heavy, a bit chunky, slightly overweight etc, etc, etc.   Grin

Weird how much control your mind has over what the inside of you views the outside of you as being.....

What does your Dr say? Does he feel you are to thin? If not then I wouldn't worry about trying to put on any weight. Believe me in time it will try to creep back on anyhow! LOL  People tell me I am to thin too, but I know I am a healthy weight. They are just used to seeing me overweight and so it is a shocker for them to see me this small now.  Just my two cents.

Hi Kim,  Well I have been to 2 doctors now and they both think I am to thin…no meat on my bones, not much muscle etc...  I eat a lot of carbs a day just to try and keep my weight from dropping below 120.  I was trying to maintain 125, 6 months ago but have since lost that battle.  My BMI is now on the border of below normal.  I have a surgeon who wants to revise me to a DS.  I am not sure what I want to do at this point.  All I know is  it is getting to be a struggle and I am literally TIRED of eating so much just to stay status quo.  Never thought I would hear me say that.  LOL  But I have faith it will all work out.  Thanks for your reply.

WOW I can see how that would be a struggle for you! Yeah really who ever thought any of us would have to deal with being to skinny?! Praying you are able to figure out what to do to get to and stay a healthy weight.  What would happen if you do have the revision?  Would you then have to worry about gaining to much weight back?

Thank you for your kind words Kim!  Seems like only people from the WLS community can really understand the concerns and issues we face.   My surgeon said that he can help me achieve a healthy bmi and weight through a combination of lengthening my common channel and the size he would make my sleeve.  According to him, as long as I was careful about the carbs I intake that I would not have to worry about excessive weight gain.  Of course the moment I hear "weight gain" of any type my defenses kick in and I want to scream "NO WAY"…  funny how even though those around you see you as to thin but when it comes to your own body image it's totally the oposite, I just can't seem to grasp that idea that a size 2 is "skinny".  LOL  ;-)

You are so welcome! I know there are a lot of things that only people who have had the WLS can understand. I am the same way with being afraid of gaining any weight! With my extra skin, I don't feel like I am really "skinny" either.

So how do they think that revising to a DS is going to work?  How is converting from one malabsorption procedure to a DS going to work?  I just want to know what Dr. K is telling you.   Are you having malabsorption problems too?  I know the struggle, have been on TPN since Memorial Day.  Found out that I have colitis which is causing alot of my problems.  GI Dr. recommends full reversal but Dr. S doesn't believe that is necessary, but a revision is needed to lengthen the common channel.  I can't afford to go out of state and don't think my insurance would cover it.  I am anticipating some struggle with the insurance as he is not a COE.

Sorry to hear about the struggle and that you may be facing another procedure.  I can't even imagine having a dr tell me I needed surgery for being too thin.  Best of luck.
