Hello,

Just found your site today and decided to sign up. I've been overweight my whole life. Lost and gained the same 100 lbs over and over again. In 2008, I talked to my doc about the lap band and she told me how the gastric bypass stops diabetes in its' tracks. My family has a significant history so we started the long, workup process and learned that I had GERD and sleep apnea. Unfortunately, work issues occurred and I had to quit my job and move to another state.

Fast forward to 2010, I randomly checked my fasting blood sugar and it was 136 ... basically a pre-diabetic. I immediately went on Medifast and started losing weight, thinking I would decrease my insulin resistance. I've lost 40 lbs but my blood sugar remains high. I dropped my carbs and started exercising but my blood sugar remains high. Long story short, I've done everything and been to my doc for the official diagnosis of type 2 diabetes. Now I'm on diabetes meds plus I have migraines and lower leg edema.

I am not interested in letting these health issues continue and intend to be very aggressive to get some quality of life for what I have left (42y female). Ready to kick diabetes' butt!

Welcome aboard!

I was pre-diabetic, high blood pressure and had really bad lower leg edema and now one year and 230lbs lighter they're in the rear-view mirror (BP meds are 1/4 the dosage and will be gone soon)

Hey luddy,

Welcome to the show!!! Also thanks for a great show idea. We have done some minor stuff on WLS curing diabetes in the past, but I really think we need to touch on it some more. I think we need to dedicate a  segment to just this. Time to fire up the research engine on this one.

Don't be a stranger!
