So, once I got into Onederland, it seems like I just can't stop being hungry!  I have at least 40 lbs left to lose, and I'm vascillating between 191 and 196 lbs (mostly up at 196).  For the past month, it's been in that five pound range.

I know I'm eating too much - and too many carbs. My evening eating is the worst - I work late at night sometimes (I'm a night owl), and I'll grab a snack to eat such as some turkey pepperoni and almonds, or even just a bowl of peas.  Either way, I know I'm getting in too many calories per day.  My exercise motivation has also been dead.  I did walk to a coffee shop to work for two hours today (I got a nonfat latte, but also a roast beef and cheese panini, which in their case was a squashed multi-grain bagel - I won't be eating there again - yes, I avoided the chips, but in the two hours I was there, I did eat the whole bagel sandwich).  So, I walked briskly for about a mile (that's it - about 1/2 mile each way), but I have been eating like a maniac. At dinner, I ate three poached eggs - THREE!!!  Later, I had about 14 almonds and an ounce of asiago cheese, and an ounce of turkey pepperoni.

Have I killed my sleeve?  What is up with this?   I don't want to stop here.  Sad

I still a brand-spankin' newbie, so I can't offer any words of wisdom, but I do offer my sympathy, because every time I'm feeling a bit hungry or eat more than a toddler's portion, I start to freak out a little. I will just offer the not-very-helpful "don't panic" and "try the 5-day pouch test." Also, have you thought about protein shakes? I can tell a difference in appetite and desire to eat in general on the days that I have a lower-protein shake vs. days that I have a higher-protein shake.

I just want to lend my support and tell you to hang in there.  I am just finishing up a pouch test.  I have had the same problem for about a year and I still have 40 pounds to go, as well. It could just be a plateau.  I'm hoping that's all mine is and I'm really trying desperately to cut the calories and move more.  Hang in there Kris.  A day at a time, we can do it.   Wink

Honey I know right where you are at cause I'm there. I'm trying to lose another 20lbs but not having a lot of luck. So I've added some yoga and more water and upped the protein. Hoping it will work. Just knowing others are having to same problem helps.

My hungry come at about 2pm and hangs around until about 4. It's a big old monster I'm telling you.

Kris - as Ian mentioned, you typed in your post what was going on, so you already know the answer. When I get on the higher end of my scale cushion, I start journaling on Daily Plate, and the results will ASTOUND you! I can be up to 2000 calories in a day before I blink. That gets me under control fast. Also, exercise is key. I was losing slowly but steadily when I was training for the 1/2 marathon, but since then, exercise has been sketchy, so my last 20 pounds continue to hang on. I'm planning a new commitment when the weather cools off, so that should help me, as well as controlling my calories. Planning your day ahead of time also helps. I know what I'm eating that morning - come visit us again in the WDYE thread if you think that would help - we'd love to have you!

Thanks y'all - yes, I know the answers - I'm just having such a hard time implementing them.  I walked to the farmer's market today and back - didn't need anything, but at least I was walking a bit.  I intend to swim tomorrow and Friday while there's still weather to do that.  Meanwhile, if I'm feeling so damnably "eaty," I do know that I've had too many carbs and need to go back to proteins.  I'm not in maintenance yet, and I'm eating like i am - that's the problem right there.

Thanks - I'm back to watching my caloric intake and exercise.  I MUST.  I can't stop here.

This is why I posted - because i needed to hear what I already knew.   Kiss

Are you still on a PPI? I find that acid reflux can make me feel hungry. I also don't always get classic symptoms so it's easy not to realize what is going on. For example, I don't always get heartburn. But I know it's acid reflux because my stomach gets all grumbly and I want to eat every hour.

The other things is that sometimes it helps to just concentrate on one thing. Instead of trying to up your exercise, lower your calories, drink more water, eat more protein, food journal and three other things you know you are doing wrong... just pick one thing to concentrate on and do that for a month until it becomes an ingrained habit. Then pick another thing to work on. This actually how I went from being a couch potato who planned to go to the gym 3x a week but rarely made it more than 1x to training for an Ironman. Cheesy I started making 1x a week a habit, then 2x times, then 3x, etc. until exercise was just a natural part of my life so that I'd miss it when I couldn't do it as much.

Good luck Kris - I know you can do it, sometimes life gets in our way, but because you asked and because I know you know what to do, I know you will get it done and I can't wait to do the dance of joy for you when those last pounds come tumbling off.  You go girl - nothing can stop you!!!  Kiss

Okay, so today I logged my eating into sparkpeople and definitely figured out I'm eating more calories than I thought I was.  So I'm cutting that.

Mac - yes, I take Prilosec OTC at least once a day, sometimes twice, because I have severe acid reflux (I did before my VSG and still do).  I do see that it seems to make me feel hungrier, so I'm working on recognizing that.  My biggest issue is that I've been eating like I'm on maintenance and not still just weight loss.  So my first step is to being logging my foods adn drinks again.

WTG, Kris. Great job on re-committing to the plan. Email if you need anything! (I need to re-commit on exercising, and now that the weather is turning cooler, it's my number ONE priority.)

And Marie is my inspiration, too. You go, girl! I wanna be you!

Kris, hang in there hun.  There are many of us right there with you.  It is so easy to slip into maint eating before we loose all we should.  I am there too, although starting to get out of it a bit.  Lower the carbs as much as you can, they are nothing but a craving monster.

Tammy - my exercise has been severely lacking lately, too, and I'm getting back on that track as well.  Tomorrow I'm strapping that laptop to my back and walking to Weaver Street Market (about a mile) to work from there for a bit.  It'll force me to walk at least two miles, and I won't be able to use the excuse that i need to work. Paula - ain't that the truth!  The carb monster bit me and I was poisoned (there was this wonderful honey vendor at the farmer's market - I blame him).  I'm determined to get back to NO simple carbs except a few occasional dark chocolate chips (for when I'm craving chocolate like mad).  I've been eating sandwich thins with honey for a snack, which just triggers more cravings.  Back to the drawing board.  It's just crazy how fast that monster can climb back on our backs **sigh**

I'm getting there - sticking with a couple bites of dark chocolate when I can, though I'm still stalled, dang it.  I HAVE to start moving my ass.
