I am in the process of getting a RNY Done in the near future.  Next month or so I hope, in Insurance stuff right now.  I have been approved in the past so I doubt there will be a problem there.

The Question: I'm still a guy - But what guy things do you find your self doing now you would/could not due before.  How has stuff changed with your SO (Significant Other).  Does your SO feel secure in your relationship.

Cheers.

My wife and I had surgery the same day, so we avoided a lot of issues that sometimes happens when one person goes ahead of the other or one has it and one doesn't.

Yes, I'm still a guy...  Surgically Enhanced !!!  LOL

My step is lighter...  Hopping up on a curb is effortless... Getting in and out of my car is a non-event...

Since we have lost a combined total of almost 250lbs. flying our plane is better too... LOL

Yes well that is a significant amount of fuel for 250 pounds.

What are you flying?  how far can 35 gallons get you? Smiley

Well, here's a slightly different answer to the original post......

I am the surgically altered one, but it has made my non-surgically altered guy more "manly", lol.
Now he takes my bags, opens doors, lifts things for me etc. and boy, am I grateful  Smiley
This lil' lady can't lift the weight like she used to... Smiley

greebo115.
Actually I look forward to being able to do some of that stuff for the Lovely Wife.  She deserves it.  I'm glad DH has felt his chivalry crop to the surface again.

Not to be panicky but how much weaker do you feel?  I'll be cranky if I loose too much in upper body strength so I better at least stay nearly the same strength.

BTW I received word yesterday that my insurance has approved me.

Great news on your approval Gregor!  Cool
Another step closer.

I don't think I've lost a lot of strength as such.... I've always had flare ups of pain in my knee, shoulders and neck, and although they are less now, I still get them.

Everyone saw me as a "big strong woman" even though I was in agony and could have used some help! DH's (and the rest of the world's) perception of me has changed and now I am on the petite side....people leap up to help.

Also, I can't "throw" my weight behind things to move them, so if I try to move something big, lol, I just bounce off!

You will lose muscle... no doubt about it.

I never had big arms... but I had beefy shoulders and such.

Pre-op I could curl 60# doing 3 sets of 15... when I started back about 4mo post op, it was half that. I'm back up to doing what I was as of about 2mo ago), and doing more things... including assisted chin ups and dips.

I have more muscle, and lots more muscle tone of course now, and just slowly continuing to build it.
