Okay fine I followed the bread crumbs from OH DS forum and agree that people need to know about the DS.  I could have ended up with a RNY but after seeing an image of the DS it just made more sense to me from a physiological standpoint.  Low and behold my insurance covered it too!   Grin

I am still a 'baby' DSer but after 4 weeks I am enjoying my food and the changes on the scale.

WHOOOOHOOOOO!!!! Another DS'er! It's been like a DS desert over here for way to long. I know you may fell a little lonely here to start out Dana as there are not many DS'ers on the boards, but I certainly hope you will hang around and help us grow that slice of the community.

Aside from DS info though I am sure you'll find a lot of great general WLS info and support here. We have a very friendy and accepting group of freaks hinging around these parts.

Welcome aboard!!!

Hey Jenna!  Your post on OH re: what a typical day of DSr food looks like was fantastic.  As I mentioned there - what you posted isn't much different from how I eat.. adjust for the restrictions of the pouch quantitity wise and for taste (lamb.. yuck) and we are pretty much the same!  Welcome to BTV.. We love when new freaks join..  looking forward to getting to know you.

WOOHOO! Welcome to all the switchers! We're so glad you're here! I am eager to learn more about the surgery, so that when my friends who are considering WLS ask, I know where to send them and what I can tell them.

I'm not a DSer yet, but been on this forum technically for a year... but I read a lot of the threads here, watch every episode and listen to the skype chat. So I'm a freak-in-waiting! I don't post much since i'm pre-op and stuff... but I do enjoy the shows. =)

Mandi, nice to see you here! Which surgeon did you end up going with? I seem to recall you were researching a couple of different ones due to insurance restrictions.

 Tongue

I found y'all!

And...the gastric bypass is NOT the surgery with the highest success rate!  It's the DS!   (See BTV Home)

One of the DS sites I found very helpful was http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RevisedDS/

This site doesn't sugar coat the problems with the DS, and some post point out how the procedure is evolving.

As an example, they used to create a Sleeve about twice the size of the one they do today, and the length of the CC is now 2 to 3 times longer than 50 to 75cm used in the early days of the procedure.

I believe many of the health problems associated with the early DS procedure have been corrected for the most part with these newer techniques.

Regardless of what WLS procedure anyone selects,  BariaticTV.com is an excellent resource for non judgmental post surgery support.
