I've discovered that I don't so much toot (Sorry, Ian) as I do belch repeatedly for about 10 minutes after I eat.  This is especially true if I eat or drink something hot... tea, soup, cooked veggies.  Also happens if I eat too fast or take that one bite that proved to be one too many.

Is this something experienced by any other sleevers?  or, am I just "special"?   Undecided

Sleever here....I get a little bit of a runny nose and/or a hiccup or two when I am full.  The cool thing is each of us is different and get different signs, the important thing is that we listen to our body talking to us.

OMG! The belching! I'm 8 months out and it's still an issue, if I eat, if I forget to eat (yes, i actually forget to eat, rather than forget I already ate, LOL), whenever, whatever. Most of the time, I can be discreet (I hope), but if I'm alone, I sound like a foghorn. It can go on for five or ten minutes at a time. It drives me insane! I have no idea what to do about it.

Oh my, this is one of those good news, bad news moments.  LOL  I'm glad to know this is not unique to me, but not so glad to hear that I may have to live with it.

Jen, have you tried anything to help?  Like either papaya enzymes or Beano?

no, I live in Korea, and those products are generally unavailable, or are marketed under a different name. You can't just browse at the pharmacy, everything is behind the counter, so you have to know the name of what you want.

If I take an OTC med for reflux/ indigestion, it helps, but I hate taking pills, so I only take them when acid is bothering me. It's not constant, sometimes I go days without even a dainty, girly burp, but it starts without warning and just goes on and on. That's what makes me crazy.

I doubt you'll have to live with it. Our stomachs tend to be noisy and kind of messed up at first but it does gradually settle down. Sometime around 1 year, things get to be pretty normal for most of us.

It was an issue for me during Year 1, but I don't do it anymore. In fact, I hardly belch at all!

I usually belched for 10-15 min after a meal or protein shake, but the past few weeks it's become quite frequent.  I haven't changed my eating habits, so not sure what's causing it.

I am now three days out and I am most certainly a belcher.  My goodness what interesting noises my body is making with so little input.

Yeah!  It's almost like we've got a little rhythm section in our innards.  Cheesy

My hubby says he is looking forward to having a meal with a bunch of us in Vegas.  He thinks it will be hysterical when we all get going with our, burps, sneezes, runny noses, etc.  Grin

Valerie! When I read your comment about the "rhythm section" I started laughing so hard I would have had milk in my nose if I'd been drinking any!! I have been belching constantly since I got home and am glad to hear that eventually it should go away. Keep freakin' on one day at a time. I think the adventure is just beginning. Cheryl

I never burped before surgery - and I was always kind of jealous of a good burp.  My stomach has always been noisy though.  Since surgery nearly two years ago, my stomach is still noisy, and I do burp.  I like it after a lifetime of not being able to LOL.  I'll usually let an unexpected burp loose and say something like, "Whoo! That was a good one!"  Good thing Dale has a sens of humor.  Cheesy

LOL It's a compliment in Portugal... I just hate when it seems like hiccups in disguise-- they won't stop and don't make me feel better. As far as side effects go, it's pretty minor, I guess.

I Love this! Nice to know someone else is having this problem. Does it ever go away? I have these extra loud hiccups- that are really annoying! And sometimes painful too.

I am totally laughing because my family calls it my "Full Meter". When I do one of my hiccups my kids will yell out "Mom's FULL!" Hahahahaha! Wink

I also belch too. My very vocal new tummy.

A new slant to this is that sometimes after the more vocal belches, I can actually feel the food shift around inside my stomach.  My next thought is usually, "Ooh! More room."  Wink
