I'm usually in flats, but I've been searching for some comfortable walking shoes with good support. I think I may have stumbled upon a winner. I came across this online: Best For: Overweight Walkers Reebok DMX Max ReeDirect ($70) Air pockets in the rubber bottom of the shoe reduce impact for more comfort and less chance of injury. Even slim walkers enjoy the extra cushioning, especially for long walks: "No matter how far I went, my feet never got sore," reports tester Jennifer DeLuca, 41, of Brooklyn, NY. The mesh upper lets air circulate so feet stay dry and cool. http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/health/top-10-best-new-walking-shoes-for-spring-2478330/#photoViewer=5Has anyone tried these? If not, what do you wear to exercise (walk, low impact) in?

I love my Shape-ups, but caution they take a bit getting used to. In my opinion they would not be a good choice for someone with bad knees. They make you pick up your feet because they are bowed on the bottom with all the extra cushioning. This means if you do not pick up your feet, you could face plant. They make me use my hips, knees and bottom muscles more. No shuffling your feet in these babies. I wear them for normal wear and walking, great for walking. I found a dressier pair at Sams Club for 49 (That I can wear for every day in the office) where the more tennis shoe looking ones are usually about 95-115 at a shoe store. They will not however make you look or feel like you do not need the gym or a trainer, no matter what the current commercial says, but they are good shoes.

I wear fairly basic New Balance walking shoes. I got them on sale, and they support my feet beautifully.

I can't find those Reeboks in my size. (I have wide feet.) I'm thinking that article came out a tad bit too late, so the search continues. I've never heard of Asics before. I'll have to check them out.

My feet were so wide that I usually bought men's shoes and only New Balance because they make really wide shoes! But finally I succombed and actually had shoes made for my feet. www.herseycustomshoe.comIf you are just starting out, then these will be a bit much for you. But if your feet are truly hard to fit and you are desiring top quality shoes, then these are them!

Since my feet are changing with the rest of me, I'd hate to get a pair now and then not be able to wear them. Maybe I'll save this for when I'm closer to my goal. Thanks for the link.
