Hi all! My surgery on Monday went well, or so I was told, I don't even remember being wheeled into the OR. As usual, I was the "problem" patient. After getting to my room, I had a lot of pain control issues, mostly because no one would believe that morphine has the same effect as sugar water on me. Once we got over that and I had a hefty dose of dilaudid, I was ready to walk, drink some fluids, and LEAVE! Cheesy  It's sooooo much better being at home. The past 2 days I have been able to get my 60 gms of protein down, but the fluids (minimum of 60 oz.) is a much bigger challenge. I was glad to read other people's posts about that same problem--it's always nice to know it's not just me. Hope all of you are freakin' on!

Welcome to the losers' bench, Cheryl. I'm totally amazed that you're able to get all that down - didn't happen for me until at least 3 months out. Great job!

Hi T2 (and everyone else): I have been using an egg protein powder that I found at GNC. When I mix it with 6oz milk and a couple ice cubes, there are 30 gms of protein in an 8oz drink. I have to add some sweetener and a little vanilla to mask the taste of the protein, but it sits easy on my stomach (a much appreciated plus since the whey protein doesn't always). Hope that info helps someone who is having trouble getting their protein in!

Cheryl - that sounds great! It's so important to find a protein drink that you really love. Even at almost 3 years out, I still do protein shakes - not only do I love mine, but they help supplement and get me back on track. Great job! So proud of you!
