I meet with my surgeon again today, 3 of the 6 monthly appointments are now done. I've met with the nutritionist, had my psych eval, gallons of blood drawn, and had a financial consult re: what insurance will probably not cover.

I am SO ready. Three months seems like a long time from now. I wish I hadn't waited so many years to make this decision.  I just wasn't convinced until this year.

My doctor thinks I should call my insurance company and tell them they are delaying my access to treatment, and demand to know why I have to wait 6 months. But I don't think that's going to do anything except make them put a black mark on my file.

I do feel so fortunate to have good insurance, I'm just ready to be done waiting to get started.

Once I got past the preliminary Education Classes my HMO requires, I had to wait almost 9 months to have my surgery.  Not because it was a requirement, but because they had so many people on the waiting list.  They had to add another surgeon to try to speed up the process.

Wow, another 9 months??  I was asking the surgery coordinator about that today, about how long it took to get on the surgery calendar once I'm approved, and she said not long at all.  Crossing my fingers!!

You are really fortunate to have insurance that will pay for VSG - mine did, too - but so many who choose this surgery have to pay for it themselves. Hopefully, with the good results it's getting, this will change soon.

Three months seems like a long time, but trust me - it will fly by. I too wish I had done it so much sooner, but it probably wouldn't have worked for you had you done it when you weren't ready.

Congrats on making a decision that will change your life!

You are very fortunate that your insurance company is approving you even though you have to jump through hoops.  Mine didn't - I had to go to mexico - still best thing I ever did Wink

Hang in there, it won't take long. Smiley

Thanks you guys!  I figure I will be foxy at 45.   Grin

Kristopia, I know, I am really lucky. I looked at the surgery once before, and had a job where insurance would not cover one bit of it.
