Out of curiosity, what doctors did you have to see pre-op and why?

Also, what tests did they make you do?

My program had a standard set and then also some they only did if your medical history called for it.

So everyone got:

Chest X-ray or Upper GI (I got the GI)
EKG (done during the physical)
Recent pap and mammogram (if woman, had to be less than a year old)
Pre-op Labs
Pre-op Physical

I also got a cardiac stress test though it turns out I really didn't need it at all. (My heart was in awesome shape, apparently.)

Plus the Nut Consult and the Psych eval

Thanks... Trying to prepare myself ahead of time.

I know that psyche eval was a trip. I walked out of there like... "I fooled her good." ha!

My list was the same as Madame's except I was also required to have a sleep study.

I'm still pre-op, and have a couple more months of monthly surgeon appointments for the insurance company.

I had to do a psych eval (out of pocket, ouch), LOTS of blood work due to family history, nutritionist meeting, appt with primary care physician, I think that's it.  I also started to go to the monthly support groups for WLS patients, which was recommended but not required.

(Ha! I felt that way at my psych eval too!)

I have the same list.  Must be a standard list that they all want/need.  However Rockwood in Spokane does a gallbladder doppler as well because if there are stones they take it out at the same time.  Some of my test were about 2 years ago so they will redo an EKG, Chest Xray.  There is also a 4 week pre-op nutrition whatever and then 2 weeks on a liquid diet.  For me, I thinks thats about it, but there is always a however yes the insurance company has the last word.

I didn't have a gallbladder so I didn't get that one.  Grin
