Ah the insurance phase.  I did a lot of venting during that time.  Hopefully yours will go smoothly.

Thanks everyone!
Yes, I keep a kosher kitchen. After I saw the nutritionist I went straight to our local health food store, showed the them list of protein shakes etc., and said, "are any of these kosher?" Hooray they were, but they are not cheap!! <<shock>>

Welcome Koshermama.

The insurance process is rough, but you are doing the right thing by getting on here, and educating yourself before. Ask lots of questions, none too small or stupid.  All questions are good.

Now's a great time to start training yourself to be a freak. Start by changing your habits now. Like drinking more water. Make it a challenge to get in all your water before surgery.

Even protien drinks. Drinking protien now will help you heal better. Start walking slowly.

Keep a journal to help you through the rough stuff.

Cool  I'm originally from Jersey too-we're tougher stuff, gf!  My surgery is tomorrow and I was sleepless last night.  But we'll make it-over a million happy freaks an't be wrong!  We'll just have to follow directions and all will be well.  One day, one meal at a time.

Hi--another Jersey girl here but now living up here in Canada--had my surgery on May 30th and it took me a while--I stared off the process with looking out of country and then just one week after my paperwork was submitted the Ontario government changed their policy and the surgeries were not approved out of country any longer--had to start all over again here in Canada--waited for 9 months to get into an information session and then 10 months more till my surgery date--now just coming up on 6 weeks post op and looking so forward to the future--I found that keeping a container of Osem's Chicken borth is a life saver but it is high in salt so i have been making chcken soup from the frozen chicken in my freezer and eating the broth in the early stages--just need the summer to see how things are going so that I can figure out how to do the Yom Tovs this year--==Welcome to your journey and keep us posted on your progress--

Yeah the insurance part is a pain in the A$$. I know, I'm going through the process right now. Welcome and share anything you learn with us unfortunate strugglers. Hopefully you transition will be smooth and your miserable feelings will pass. I will speak for most of and say we've all been there and things get better. Fir us newbies we have to hold on to that with all we have. Good luck and welcome.
