Has anyone read this series? I've been wanting to try it and thought I would get some reviews.

I have seen them at Walmart lately and have been very tempted to pick them up since there is so much buzz about the movie. I think I will look for them at Half-Price Books. I love a good read, especially if it is something my son can pick up after I am done and read as well.

Thanks for the review, Toni. I finished the book I was reading last night, so I'll be downloading this one today. One of my co-workers is on book 2, and she is also addicted. And I like to read the books before the movies come out!

I have a stack of books on my night stand waiting to be read, but I would appreciate one of you starting a new thread about these books in the books/articles area, then later, when I am ready to read them, I can find the title readily.

Thanks!

I'm such a geek. When I first saw this thread title, I figured this was a book about dealing with Head Hunger or something.  Tongue

Of course, now that I'm aware this book series exists, I'm seeing it everywhere. Mini-Mac even got us to buy her the series yesterday.

My daughter actually gave me the Hunger Games to read .. she loved it.  I read it and then devoured the other 2 when they came out.  I can't wait to see what they do with the movie.

OMG! I'm halfway through Mockingjay, the 3rd book. I can't imagine yet how it ends - I am so hooked! Can't wait for the movie. These have been outstanding!

Futuristic about a society that does a lottery for their kids to kill each other each year in an arena-type game situation. Population control by a corrupt leadership.

OK, that sounds totally boring, but it's not! The girl who is fighting in the games is amazing, and the storyline is enthralling. I cannot put them down! Katniss (the girl) is the catalyst for the revolution. Girl power!

Yes, you do! I thought the movie was a good overview of the book - best they could do - but the book had so much more detail, inner thoughts - you know how it goes. Highly recommended!
