I've been so blessed  Cheesy that nothing has gone array since surgery, I almost feel like all the hype about bariatric surgery was just spoof from insurance companies, well until I started seeing and hearing stories out of the peoples mouths that things "happened" to.
I found out on Wednesday-after a trip to the good ole ER, that I am full of gall stones  Cry  Man is this crap painful!  Angry  Went to see my doc Thursday and he wants to take my gall bladder ASAP. To many issues can come with these I guess and right now my gall bladder is so inflamed its 3-4x's its normal size!
Surgery is next Thursday 9/29 at 12:30, if I can make it until then. I'm still having a lot of pain and while the percocet is helping, I don't know if it will be enough to get me through until then...

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Many of us lost our gallbladder before WLS, so I would not call it a complication.

But, that doesn't change how much it hurts!

I hope you feel better soon!

Had mine removed during my WLS. It went bad before my WLS so i got a twofer.

I would say it is a complication of WLS since the rapid weight loss is known to contribute to them going south. That's why many surgeons require us to take Atigal after surgery.

You'll feel much better soon and here's to a complication free surgery.

You will feel so much better once those gallstones are out!! I hope your recovery will be as easy as mine was, I went shopping 2 days after I had my gallbladder out (of course, I collapsed in bed from exhaustion once we got home, but I got the grocery shopping done).

Glad you are getting that taken care of, I remember how bad that was.  Try to stay as bland as possible till then so that you do not aggravate the GB any more than it already is.  Praying for a speedy recovery for you.

I lost mine to Nutri/system in '89.

I think of this as a complication of rapid weight loss more so than of WLS since lots of people lose their gallbladders when they lose a lot of weight.

Keep us posted, Shelly, so we'll know how you're doing. Lots of post-WLS patients have to have this done.

I too was fortunate enough to have mine removed prior to WLS.

Hey everyone, just checking in. Surgery was Thursday and overall went well, gall bladder is bu bye. The doc found 2 bands of scar tissue that he was able to remove and clean up, sounds like both could have caused problems later with bowel obstructions so that was good news. He had a great opportunity to look over everything from my RNY and he said it looked beautiful.

I'm still pretty sore and trying to move around is rough going. Every day is a little better so hoping it continues to go that way.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
Lots of love,Shelly

Lunch . . . I'm jealous!!  Patti,  I sure missed not having a get together this year.  I think we need to do it at least annually.

We really should do it annually but I just couldn't find a free weekend this year. Next summer for sure! Are you coming up for Saturday's confrence? I will be there and got a hotel room for both Friday and Saturday night. Hope to see all of the MN local peeps there. I know Rob will be there too.

Otherwise please let me know if and when you get up to the cities and we can meet up!  Cheesy
