I see that we have not had a new topic on here in a while and thought I would start one :-)
I have read that as a RNY patient that your/our taste buds change.
What is something that you eat now post-op that you never ate before pre-op?

When my taste changed I now don't like some foods that I used to love. For example I was diet soda ho I tried a sip of hubby's diet coke, (first try since Dec 2010) and man did it taste horrible all I could taste were chemicals. I tried a small bite of cake with icing I didn't like it and didn't swallow it either. The icing left a weird oil slick on my tongue. The weirdest change for me was pre opp is I always preferred vanilla to choc. in everything from cake, ice cream, and protein pdr. Post opp I can't stand the vanilla flavor or even the smell. I have to use the choc protein powder as vanilla gags me. That was unexpected. Oh wait I forgot my fav. ice cream flavor was mint chip pre opp, I can't stand the smell now either. Interesting topic thanks for posting it! -Mel

I love cottage cheese where it was just OK before. I would only eat it if I had to. I like greek yogurt now I do not like sodas and used to love them. I do not like mayo or salad dressing as they both taste like they are just cold and oily, gross. I love turkey bacon, lunch meat, peperoni, smoked sausage, and I did not like it before I was an ice cream nut before and can only handle a small amount of the low carb kind now. The regular is way to rich.

Greek yogurt and Torani? That sounds awsome. I love Greek yogurt- especially Fage - but had no idea how to add new flavors. I don't get to eat enough yet to know what I like...

Cottage cheese.
You couldn't have paid me or forced me to eat that before. Now I will.

Greek yogurt and Torani SF syrups are what I love now too. I have issues eating eggs and lunch meat since the surgery and it's killing me because I love eggs. I also am in love with spices! Kim
