It's no secret that I am a big fan of Ree Drummond, otherwise known as The Pioneer Woman (pioneerwoman.com). While she has to cook for cowboys every day (and it's certainly not WLS-friendly food), her recipes are simple, delicious, and easily tweaked for me. She also hosts The Tasty Kitchen, a blog with a plethora of recipes that rivals the Food Network itself.
So...The Food Network came calling. And now, Ree has her own show! It starts tomorrow (Saturday) morning - I believe it's at 10:30am central, but don't quote me on that. Check your local listings - my DVR has been set for 2 weeks.
I've seen a snippet of the first show - she does country-fried steak with mashed potatoes & gravy (sigh...), but she also does a lovely marinated tomato salad (so easy!) that I will definitely be trying before tomatoes go out of season.
Ree's life story and her humor are what make her so fun and watchable. You'll also get to meet her family and learn about their life on their Oklahoma ranch. I had the pleasure of meeting Ree when she was on her first cookbook tour (pics on my FB page), and she is as wonderful in person as you would imagine.
So set those DVRs and learn why I love this woman so much. And visit her website when you get a chance - you'll blow a few hours before you know it.
