I can't believe it's already been a year since my surgery!   Cheesy  I wanted to do something special to mark the event... something I've wanted to do for a very long time.

When I was at my worst, I had to have my wedding ring cut off because it was digging into my finger and cutting through the skin.  I've kept it in a jewelry box for the past 5 years.

I took it to a jeweler and had it fixed, polished and re-sized.  I'm thrilled to be wearing it again.  It feels good.  Smiley

Val! That is so cool! what a great NSV for you!

I'm at the other end - the rings are falling off and I can't afford to get them resized right now...my pretty diamonds are stuck in the box for the time being...sigh...

BUT, I can wear a pretty sapphire ring my husband bought me on a trip to Sri Lanka and I haven't worn it in years, so that is very cool... Smiley

Wow that rocks what a great boost.

For those of you waiting to get the rings sized smaller I wrapped the back of mine with sterling silver wire and that worked very well. You can get it at jewelry supply shops or on line. You need about a 6 inch piece.

That's awesome, happy surgiversary to you!! Mine 1 yr is coming up on 3/21, it's been a ride.  My wedding band and engagement ring are too big also.. I've been meaning to go to the jewelry store to get a ring guard so I can wear them and then wait 1 more year before I get them re-sized.

Great job Val!!

Thanks all!  I was going to wait to have them re-sized too but decided I could use the positive reinforcement.  Ian, I'm due for pics soon but am still very much camera-shy.  I have to work up the nerve.  LOL

Val... Happy Surgeriversary!  Mine is coming up this week on the 15th.  It is so hard to believe that it's been a year already.  Doesn't it seem like it was just yesterday that we had it? Keep up the great work that you have been doing, and I'm with Ian, I would love to see a new picture.  Kim

Val - Definitely time for new pix! If I can post one in an x-ray gown, you can get us a new pix of your beautiful self!

And Kim - You have lost 189 pounds in a year? Holy Cow! Amazing!

You guys are such great examples to me!!!

A friend who had RNY 5 years ago was telling me today that she had to go to the doctor for a yearly check up and she was scared to get weighed because she hadn't weighed for almost the whole year. She got there and she was the same weight she weighed last year! It's funny how someone else's NSV makes you feel so good!

Kim... you're looking great!

Okay... y'all wanted a new pic... y'all got a new pic.

This is me just prior to surgery (I'd already lost about 40 lbs.) and me one year later, a bit past the halfway mark.

The biggest change for me has been my health, which is primarily why I had the surgery.  I feel like a new person, and not like I'm a step away from death's door.  A huge NSV!

Toni, do you mean a new profile pic?  Otherwise, the one above (right side) was taken last night.  Admittedly, it's not dramatic, but progressing.

AWESOME! Thank you. You should make it your profile picture.

And you are wrong...it's dramatic. :-)

Congrats on your 1 yr... Time does fly by !! My yr date is coming up on April 13th.
I need to take my rings and get them resized. When I was working last week, I had mine fall off while I was making a patient's bed.  Good thing it rolled on the floor and not in the hamper.

Keep up the great work.  Great pictures by the way Smiley
