I had my RNY last Oct 17th. For about the last two weeks I have been getting a pain just above my navel. It comes and goes and feels like a burning sensation. It goes away when I drink milk or take a zantac or pepcid. It comes on quickly when I drink coffee. Anyone experience the same thing? Anyone know what to do about it?

I concur....could be an ulcer but I suspect you know that cause you are taking zantac and pepcid. :-)

Should get it checked out.

I agree. I had an ulcer and they are nothing to mess with. I couldn't drink coffee, tea, or even crystal light or the knockoff water additives because of the acidity. Get it checked, because they can be excrutiatng if you eat the WRONG thing... like pineapple.  I also had a hernia and it had a burning pain in the muscle, but wasn't alleviated by anything taken orally. Undecided

One word - Doctor! Sounds like something that needs to be treated permanently - and you can't do that over the counter.

Speaking from experience here. GO TO THE DOCTOR. I started out similar to that and did go to the doctor and he kept trying to find out what was wrong...ended up in the ER one day when I started vomiting blood and pooping blood in front of my kids. I had a bleeding ulcer and was literally on my death bed! The reason the dr could not find the problem is that my bleeding ulcer was in the bypassed portion of the stomach so when he did the scope obviously he couldn't see it. Ended up having a gastrectomy and a 12 unit blood transfusion. I take 2 lanszprole (spelling) every day to help with acid build up. But, looks like I am back to the dr again as I have been having the same symptoms once again. I will not let THAT happen again!!

Good luck and let me know!

Thanks for the comments. I stopped drinking coffee and tea and the pain has gone away. Don't really understand that because my pouch is up under my breast plate and the pain is/was just above my navel. Is there such a thing as a abdominal ulcer? Anyway, I have an appointment with the doc in a couple of weeks. Right now, I feel just fine though I really miss that great K-cup of coffee.
