A Sugar-free, Healthy "Mocha Frappucino" frozen coffee drink.
With this "skinny" version, you may never overspend on a cuppa joe again! A homemade frapp works much better for a budget than the store-bought kind since it costs WAY less per drink compared to the $3.75 for a small one from Starbuck's. More importantly, this Healthy-cino has 74 calories and 3.2 carbs compared to the store bought version, which contains 200 calories and 42 carbs. In other words, you can be skinnier and richer drinking these bad boys. Win, win!!
Of course you can use this as the base for your protein shake and feel COMPLETELY decadent about doing the right thing!
Healthy Homemade "Mocha Frappucino"
Makes 1 single serving
4 teaspoons Splenda, or sugar-free sweetener of choice 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder 1 teaspoon instant espresso (instant coffee crystals work fine) 3 ounces water 3 Tablespoons half and half 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup crushed ice
Optional: Tiny pinch of sea salt
To make a single serving: Mix up dry ingredients. To your blender or Magic Bullet cup, add crushed ice, water, half and half, and vanilla extract. Add dry mix to blender cup. Blend till smooth. Pour into mug.
To make a large batch of dry mix:
10 Tablespoons + 2 teaspoons Splenda 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder 2 Tablespoons + 2 teaspoons instant espresso (or instant coffee)
Optional: Big pinch sea salt
To make a single serving from the mix, add 2 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon of the dry mix to the vanilla, ice, water, and cream listed in the original recipe.
Cook's Notes: The mix makes roughly 8 servings. Play around with it and make it your own! You can substitute cold leftover coffee for the instant coffee and water.
Feel free to share your tweaks to the recipe.

I'm just not crazy about the sweeteners she uses - they strike my tongue as bitter and complicated to use for the average cook. I whipped it up with Splenda to see what would happen - TASTY!!! and perfect with a little chocolate protein added. That's why I posted it here..

Funny how diffrent sweeteners hit diffrent people. Splenda hits me wrong but truvia much better. And to tell you the truth I made this yesterday with no sweetener and it was fine but I like sour and bitter flavors better than sweet. You should try some of the baked goods with the other sweeteners they are great.

Happy Easter! I want to thank you again for posting this and so many other wonderful recipes! I fell off the horse a smidge yesterday, but found it was a good thing. I had been missing my old coffee drinks, such as the mocha at McD's...so, instead of getting my regular treat of the latte with sf syrup, I ordered the fully leaded mocha. Well, the good news was that it now tastes too sweet to me and after drinking a little of it, I gave it to my daughter (who has no weight problem).
I just made your Move Over Starbuck's recipe and am fully enjoying it and I even put a scoop of Pure unflavored protein powder in it.
Thanks again and take care! Nicole

I keep a jug of the powder mixed up here with my protein mix - and just slap one together each morning. I definitely recommend the tiny pinch of salt which smooths out the bitterness of the cocoa.
