Hey all

I've posted about this before, but I'm just trying to rule out anything serious. My surgery was March 28th, so a few weeks ago, and I'm healing just fine, etc.

This is my second vomiting attack in a WEEK, and it's starting to worry me.
  • Both times, I had meat as part of my dinner.
  • I've always had the burps, but they just get so INTENSE when it triggers the vomiting.
  • Last time I vomited so much I started vomiting orange/yellow when I didn't even eat anything close to that colour, and once, this purplish red.
  • I can't keep water, juice or anything else down.
  • I keep trembling and shaking. A LOT.
  • I went to the hospital from my first vomiting episode, had a CT scan and blood tests, and nothing abnormal was detected, or blockages.
  • Edit/Add: I just spied a little bit of foam. Could this mean a blockage, and the vomiting is a way of solving it?

My theory at the moment is that having the meat so soon after the surgery (even after it's okay'd by the bariatric centre), I, individually, am not ready for it, and it's having a bad reaction with some inflammation or scar tissue.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Any ideas?

All theories and advice is more than welcome. Thank you for reading Cheesy (Now I go back to keeping my head near the trash can)

You poor thing...not again! I am so sorry...

Call the doctor again, this isn't normal. I know you had a lot of tests but my WLS Doc told me they can't actually see a stricture on a CT Scan. Did you have an upper GI?

The Gastroenterologist told me that they have to go in and look to see what's up. He ordered an upper GI but he pretty much said that even if it didn't show anything, I was going in to have the scope done.

I did, it showed a little narrowing, I had the scope (spent days worried and terrified, it was nothing! Lots of good drugs)(Didn't even have to take my clothes or shoes off!) He found a narrowing, expanded it (Didn't feel a thing) and that night I felt better.

Call the Doc - that will always be my advice...you need some medical help!

Wish I could do more - but I am sending good thoughts your way...and a hug! Cheesy

You are less than 2 weeks out - and unless you are pureeing the meet in a food processor - there is NO way I would do Beef or pork - and probably not chicken either.  I might do fish - as that can get very soft (i mixed mine with greek yogurt and spices, avocado and mustard).

I would also reach out to your nutritionist - or whomever you consulted with prior to surgery and/or if your surgeon has a nutritionist.

Ummm...as someone who was on liquids for 4 weeks after surgery...I tend to think you ARE moving to solid foods way to fast, not chewing enough and irritating your recently worked on guts.

If it were me, I would spend today drinking warm liquids like tea, broths, and spending my energy on getting my water in, to give my pouch a chance to heal a bit more.

If things go better tomorrow. then you know what it is.

After surgery, we are like infants and you have to gradually work up to solid foods.

I think you guys are right. I need to stay on liquids a bit longer and take it slower. I was finally able to go back to sleep around 6am  Roll Eyes

I was watching the BTV videos, especially the early ones, and I have a feeling that it was both types of the dumping syndrome since it's the only thing that can make sense right now. I certainly threw up some upper intestinal volume there.

I'm so thankful to everyone here; the forum, the lovely ladies named Toni and Lynnda whose videos were the only thing that got me laughing last night during the worst of it (lol)

Here's to trying to keep liquids down today! Thanks everyone!

Good Luck.  Remember...no body is perfect. We just have to keep learning from our experiences.

Definitely too early for meat IMO. Just move yourself back to the previous stage for a little while. Give yourself as much time as your body needs before moving on to the next stage (the pouch is in charge ya know).
If you're still vomiting on liquids, go back to see the doc!

It's been going really well today! I've been mainly having a LOT of water, I've also had some home-made broth, a few soda crackers, pudding and yogurt, and I think I'm done for the day. Except for more water and supplements, of course.

It's been hard giving myself a break, and I know I'm not the only one, but I've been resting a lot too.

I also showed my Mom the video on being 'Pouch Slapped!", and she laughed Cheesy That's what I think the message that my pouch gave me last night; "I'm in charge here, bi†©#!"
