Hello everyone, I'm new to the site. I've been approved for my surgery (gastric bypass) and I'm scheduled to have it on July 30,2012. My starting weight was(I can't believe I'm posting this!) 315. I am now at 284. I'm one week into the pre-surgery liquid diet and I am really having a hard time with this. Apparently my entire life revolved around food, all social gatherings, and d fun activities. I am so very tired of liquids!!! Please offer advice if you have any!

Welcome - you are doing great - and this is a great place for support -

I can't really comment on liquid diet as my doctor did not require this.  but I would say - it is good practice as when you get out from surgery you won't want to eat for a while!

We're with you Heather.  A lot of us have been through those 2 weeks of H-E-double hockey sticks...  and nobody says "Boy, this is fun and easy!" - BUT...  It does a great job shrinking your liver to give your surgeon room to move things around during your surgey.  It sucks, but it's WELL worth the outcome.

We welcome you to cry on our shoulders in the meantime - so we can celebrate together on the backend.

WELCOME!!!

I was 307 - thought I'd share so you wouldn't feel bad  Cheesy - and it seems weird to say that now....

I was lucky - only 3 days of liquids, and isn't it weird that someone will actually be seeing your liver? My doctor gave me all kinds of info on my liver - all I could think of was "This guys touched my actual LIVER!!!! AAAAAAA!!!!"

Anyway. welcome to the new life. Hope you have an easy time of it all. Trust me - no question is too weird - we share it all - poop, heart burn, sex, all the concerns you have/will have, you can come here for the answers. It's the best site ever...you'll  see...

The week will go fast - the roller coaster will whisk you away and you will be on the loser's bench before you know it! Be brave - and hang on!!! We're here for you!

Welcome! I am a week out from being "Sleeved" and I know the pre-op diet is icky but it helps detox your body & get you ready for your new life. I look at everything so differently now... you will too soon!
