Thanks Tammy. That's why I walk at work because I never would have time otherwise. Half my lunch hour is generally spent walking and usually one or both my breaks and I do the wall pushups in the bathroom at work! I just wish I was not so hungry all the time even though I eat more than enough for a pouched freak. I have had some friends told to cut out all artificial sweeteners, but man would that be tough...

Hey gals, Hope the headaches get better.
I am trying really hard to only have splenda or stevia. It is hard to stay away from the aspartame crap cause it is in everything. I am reading labels like crazy these days. OK warning I am going to whine a bit: I just wish I did not like to eat so much. And I am having to admit that I am totally addicted to sugar/carbs. It drives me nuts that I still have to journal and watch everything I eat just to stay in my safety range, not to mention still really needing to loose another 50 to get to goal. I foolishly thought those days of being obcessed with food were going to be behind me eventually. It used to be what the next thing was going to be before I got finished with what was in front of me. Now it is focused on what I need to stay healthy, but it is the same obcession, just turned differently. It is still that constant preoccupation with food. I am just struggling with the realization that it will be this way for the rest of my life. The sooner I come to tearms with that the better off I will be. But it still sucks. OK I am done, just had to get that out to people who would understand the rant and where it comes from.
Coffee and powerade zero this am, just now realizing that I did not have anything till lunch, which will probably come back to bite me later. Lunch was lean ham, fresh motz, bacon bits and garlic powder, with alvacado ranch to get it mixed - and 1/2 a prot pudding. unsweet tea this afternoon and water with mio or more powerade zero maybe a rtd if I get woozy have no idea what supper will be. we are headed out on a short vac in a few days and need to eat up what ever fresh stuff is in the fridge. eggs and trukey sausage are a possibility.

Paula (((hugs))) to you! I can SO relate - I hate that I can't just eat and be even close to normal when it comes to food and my body requires way less calories than my tastebuds and even my tiny (i think mine must be gigantic compared to mos) pouch wants to be satiated. At the end of my first year when I started tracking calories I was at 1800 most days and I was pretty satisfied - but then I saw what everyone else was eating to lose and that just depressed the dickens out of me when I saw Ian's calorie counts. How to cut 1000 calories a day and not be crazy with obsessing with food? What can I eat that is healthy and filling and satisfies my crazy cravings around TOM and such? I usually stick to Stevia and Splenda but I do like diet sodas still on occassion and they are usually sweetened with nasty aspartame. Some nutritionists say any sweet taste can beget cravings... That's what my co-workers new NUT said to him and told him to go off them completely and no protein drinks or bars - no "pharmaceutical" foods... And of course the things we crave most when stressing are those darned carby sweety salty buttery gooey ones. So honey, you are certainly not alone and I never made it to goal either and keep bouncing up 10-14 pounds every time I go off the deep end then I have to repent and work at it and never seem to get back to the lowest low.... But we are better off even so.

Paula, Keilah - hugs to you both - gosh I miss talking to you guys. I've had the exact same moment as you Paula...the exact same whine! But, somewhere along the way, I got sick and tired of dumping, bloating...producing noxious gasses, lol......pain....feeling generally crap/tired. Each time I ate ANYTHING "pharmacutical" I would notice how I felt. I agree with the NUT who said we shouldn't eat pharmacuticals - in my opinion, they are just what we use to try to eat around our surgery (please don't be offended, it's just how I have come to see things) - I now only (99% of the time) eat food that I have made from scratch with fresh ingredients. Even supplements like calcium chews send me off into a binge. I buy a storebrand granulated sweetener, but other than that I try to use things like fresh fruit, that are naturally sweet......no sodas, no bought sauces, no ready meals, no s/f icecream, no flavoured yogurts etc.....it's really not that hard now I'm used to it. And, contrary to a lot of advice - I DO eat potatoes, pasta, rice, etc (not bread, that seems to trigger an allergy rash and water retention). ...even a little cornbread (that I made myself) - but in v.small portions as part of a balanced meal - I mean like 15 pieces of pasta or 2 T rcooked rice) this keeps my blood sugars steady. The balance has to be just right, or it's off to "mad crave and binge land" for me. Each meal (apart from breakfast, which is always eggs) has to be balanced - veggies for bulk and vitamins, proten and carbs - every meal. Keilah, I can't recommend fresh veggies highly enough to fill up a hungry pouch and reducing calories, but I know how it is when you are craving..... Paula, you're describing the stages I went through, hopefully, you will hit the next stage soon which is: I'm so bored with thinking about food now, I just want to feel good after I eat it, so I will pick what's good for me. x Now, I'm just going to get my chopped netarines, strawberries and cream....yeah, I'm a devil, but it's nowhere near the calories of a protein bar!

I miss you too Diane! I do eat raw veggies, but have found that my pouch produces noxious gas and I bloat awful eating raw veggies - especially salad. And some fruit will do it too. I have some starches, but try to be careful and I have been experimenting with cooked veggies and more fruits. Ah cream! Yum! And I know the SF icecream is a 'gateway' drug, but I have a hard time leaving it alone. I'll go weeks without and then when the monster craving hits I figure it's better than full sugar even if only slightly and the reactive hypoglycemia is tricky. I hate falling down and starting over, but I guess it's part of my learning curve. I feel better eating on plan too and I've been cooking most of my meals but on the Saturday's out with my BFF it can be tough to find a place where I can get what I want and need and where she can too. I know she thinks I'm insane because I still have my strict puritan days and then my crazy hedonistic self-destructive bingey days. Love you!

It always amazes me how this group is almost always in the same place at the same time! I have felt the very same things this week! I too am journaling and keeping things right around 1200 calories a day - most days. But nothing on the scale. I think my body is very happy here, but I would certainly love to lose another 30 myself. Just won't happen unless I starve, and I'm not willing to do that. Like Diane, I just use moderation - I'll have bread, but do try to stay away from potatoes, pasta, and rice when I can. All simple carbs are a personal choice.
Keilah can't eat raw veg, Diane can't eat bread, Paula trying to stay away from aspartame - we all have to make these personal choices and make our plans work for us. I know my metabolism crawls at the speed of a snail, and if I exercised more, I believe I would see more sign on the scale and in my clothes. That too is a personal commitment that I have not been able to stick to.
AND I LOVE FOOD! I love the taste, the texture, the flavor - all of it. And I wish I did not have to think about every bite of food I put in my mouth. It gets tedious! However, I've also tried to look at it that I am also more thoughtful about my body and what I put in it. I never cared about that before. Every bite must be full of flavor and great taste - just like Diane, when I cook at home with whole foods, I do so much better on my scale, and my body approves in every way. I can't alwys do that (note the Lean Cuisine today!) but I do try to incorporate my kitchen as much as I can.
I love you guys, too! And I love that we can whine and chat and share and complain and hug!

Diane - I'll respond for Keilah. It's caprese salad - an Italian dish with sliced tomatoes, fresh sliced mozzarella, chopped basil sprinkled on top, and a balsamic reduction drizzled on top. Usually. There are a few different variations, but this is the classic dish.

Yep! Very yummy with avocado added too and bell pepper. Sorry about the spelling... my spelling has really gone to heck in a handbasket and the other day I was calling a "gate" a "fence" and I did it like 3 times in a row and I DO know the difference. Doh!
