OH Houston Interviews Part 2

Posted by on Nov 17, 2010 in Road Trips

We’ll start out the second round of our interviews from Houston with a chat with Dr. Garth Davis. Dr. Davis spoke at the conference about healthy eating, and we spoke to him about a vegan and vegetarian post op diets. Dr Davis also has some interesting, and sure to be controversial, thoughts on protein and protein deficiency.

We also interviewed Mary Jo Rapini who is a psychotherapist that specializes in helping surgical weight loss patients with sex and intimacy issues. She also provides some wonderful advice on the pre operative psychological evaluation.

I really enjoyed hearing both Dr Garth Davis and Mary Jo @ the OH Conference in Costa Mesa.

Although Dr Davis is a little out in Left Field to say the least IMHO…….

I was half expecting the lights to dim like they did in CM when I noticed you were interviewing Mary Jo…. I guess she left the hardware in the other room ;)

  2. I actually want to read the book Dr. Davis suggested. As a community…it’s really simple for us to get caught up on the “WE HAVE TO DO THIS” and “YOU NEED TO DO THAT”.

I think more research is required on the whole protien issue, but for myself, I really do want to eat more organically as a whole. And have tried to since watching Food Inc.

Dr Davis didn’t mention that your body will take what it needs and you will lose a massive amount of muscle if you fail to maintain higher protein intake levels – During the honeymoon period.

That’s why a lot of freaks look gaunt because they’re not taking in enough protein and the body is hammering away chowing down on muscle.

    Anyway……

I Win – My food poops on Dr Davis’ food :) :):)

LOL, Ian! Great line! I enjoyed his interview as well (Toni, you did a great job with the questions), even if I don’t totally agree with him. I’ll keep eating my heavy protein, but like Toni, I also try to stay as organic as I can (or should I say – as much as I can afford! He didn’t mention how costly that can be).

Love that MJ! She’s one hip chick!
