Although we don’t normally link to other stories this was on The Today Show this morning and we felt that it needed to be shared. It’s an honest look at Star Jones and her decision to have weight loss surgery. Thank you NBC for doing this story. In a world of over sensationalistic negative stories about weight loss surgery, it’s refreshing to see the truth!

  1. Jane Ortiz says:

I remember all that fits thrown when she wouldn’t admit or “own” what she had done to lose the weight, but I think she made the right choice for her. I can imagine how scary it must be to fight the battle when you are such a public figure. That can be so much pressure. Kudos to her for maintaining her stand and for maintaining her new healthy lifestyle.

  2. Big Mickey says:

I found it interesting that the reason she didn’t want to go public with it was her fear that she would fail. All in all very interesting insight into her WLS. Kudos to Star for sharing!

  3. Thanks for posting this! I was sorry to have missed it this morning.

  4. It’s one thing to decide not to tell people you had surgery. It’s another to WRITE A BOOK where you claim you lost weight through “God’s Love” and not admit you had surgery. And then say 6 years later that you have no regrets because “it worked for me.”

I think that takes a certain amount of shamelessness that is completely beyond my comprehension.

  5. Alison Ghany says:

I’ve never been a fan of Starr Jones but I know and understand exactly how she feels. When I got approval for surgery I told one member in my family and that was my mother’s cousin. I did not tell any of my 4 sisters until days before i was going to have the surgery. When my oldest sister found out she wanted me to postpone it. I refused. I waited too long to get there to stop for anyone!
